Meeting minutes for 25 February 2008 Members present: Dan, Jag, Phil, Eric, Ana Previous meeting's minutes approved. I. Thing 2008 Perhaps one person should find the place, and others supply content Can we have it at Eric's and Ana's? It would be possible. Perhaps we should have it there this year, and start looking now for next year's site. Let's look for a site for this year and next year, and use Ana's and Eric's as b ackup if we can't find anything for this year. We should explore all options for the range of primitiveness - some people insis t on primitive camping, while others may require more amenities, for health reas ons, etc. Brainstorm list of places we know of, to look into: Eno River group camp Camp Crabtree (Umstead) Jordan Lake Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area Falls Lake Lake Orange Roles for which we need volunteers:
Jag is willing to search for a location We need to plan for 20-30 people The Thing will be the weekend of June 28th to avoid conflicts with Trothmoot; co nflicting with a major Heathen event is not wise. II. Rede Elections Dan, Eric, and Phillip's positions are up for election We need to have absentee ballots a week before the Thing Therefor nominations must be in by May 21 Request for nominations should be sent by May 1st III. Business Cards We can try using perforated cards as an interim solution Eric and Ana are checking on the quality of an inexpensive printer via the Inter net IV. Misc. Business The remaining reimbursements from the 2007 Thing will be done at this meeting We have not used any of the money for blots - any that should have been has been redonated The Hoard chest has been delivered. It is not very portable and requires two pe ople to lift. It cost $425. Dan will make a list of items in it so that people will know what isavailable fo r blots without us having to haul the entire chest and hoard to every blot. Website maintenance: Phil is re-arranging servers, which has led to some downtim e, and Jag is having some trouble with permissions. The website needs to be stable by the beginning of April Website development is not a priority, and will be worked on as time and interes t permits V. 501c3 Paperwork Phil will have conflict of interest document prepared by 9th March Jag will have a list of documents that need verbage from Dan by 16th March VI. Blots Eric and Ana taking March; moving up a week to the 23rd Should we have "ask if anyone wants to take next one" at each blot? It seems to be working well. Phil is backup for April Dan is backup for May June blot is the Thing VII. Future Events Pagan Leadership Skills Conference - the press and public relations workshop loo ks interesting BUT we don't have anyone really excited about going, and it's exp ensive. Pagan Pride Day - we have our booth reserved; we need to plan it 2 months ahead of time Trothmoot - We will look for interest then number crunch about transportation. Dan looking at interest in TM for hof trip sponsorship (renting transportation)< br> East Coast Thing - 21st - 24th of August in PA VIII. Other Misc. Dan working on logo brainstorming session plans Ana has check to pay for P.O. Box The blot site in the woods has been repaired It would be nice to have a blot calendar listing who has been honored for the pa st two years for reference purposes - the website needs blot page with list of s ites, objects, description of blot. Dan will write text. Should we create a blot calendar for a yearly cycle? Something for the membersh ip to think about. Dan will plan a meeting. |
