Iðavelli Hof rede meeting minutes: 3 February 2007
Redesfolk present: Jag, Phil, Ana, Eric
Meeting began at 6:05 pm.
Previous meeting's minutes unanimously approved.
I. Finances
The current balance in the Hof's account is $698.65.
Tax Letters
- Tax letters will be sent out to donors only upon request until we get a federal tax ID exemption code from the IRS.
- Getting the code will require some paperwork and paying a fee.
- Phil will look into the paperwork and fee amount
Separate funds
- Having a specific fund requires that money be used only for that fund's stated purpose, or else refunded to the donor(s).
- Phil moved to create two funds - one for land, and one for IRS filing fees.
- Jag argued that having a separate fund for the IRS fees could cause headaches if the amount donated turns out to be more than the cost. Ana agreed that we should pay for that from the general fund.
- Phil then agreed that we don't need a separate fund for IRS fees.
- Everyone agreed that we should have a land/building fund, but that the wording needs to be done carefully so that we won't make the donations unusable.
- Phil will work on the wording to present at the next meeting.
II. Website
Phil will be maintaining the events page but will appreciate any reminders and prodding that he gets.
Ana will attempt to locate the URL with the PDF of the bylaws so that she can post it.
III. Business Cards
None of the local printshops make business cards
Eric will look into the prices at Kinko's.
IV. Wedding Officiants
- It has been proposed that Dan be authorized to perform weddings.
- Dan is in agreement to this.
- An announcement went out to all members last week; the only response was from Tammie, who voiced approval.
- No one has spoken in opposition, not even in unofficial comments that any of us has heard.
- The rede unanimously approved Dan to perform weddings.
- Dan needs a title for the marriage license forms.
- We should eventually create a title for people who perform weddings.
- We should get Dan's input for his title.
- It was agreed that Dan should be authorized to come up with his own appropriate title.
V. Dues Letters
We need to send out a letter announcing this year's dues and reminding people to pay.
The letter should list some things that dues pay for.
The letter should ask for input about things people would like to see the Hof spend money on.
The letter perhaps should ask for volunteers to help organize the 2007 Þing.
Jag will write the initial draft.
Any comments and suggestions about the letter should be sent to Jag via email.
VI. Upcoming Events
Phil is planning the blot on 25 Feb.
Jag is planning the blot for March, and wishes to hold it on 1 April instead of 25 March.
