Membership Policies and How to Become a Member

Iðavelli Hof has two levels of membership: Voting Members and Non-Voting Members. (Note: Generally speaking, Iðavelli Hof events are open to non-members as well.)

Voting Members have the right to vote on matters submitted to the Membership by the Rede. Such matters include, but are not limited to: voting to accept new Voting Members into the Hof, electing the Rede, voting to approve changes to by-laws. Only Voting Members in good standing may be elected to the Rede.

Non-Voting Members do not have the right to vote as described above, nor may they be elected to the Rede. Otherwise, there is *NO* difference between Voting and Non-Voting Members.

A Non-Voting Member may become a Voting Member IF:
  • They have been a Non-Voting Member in good standing for at least one year;
  • They have applied in writing to the Rede to become a Voting Member;
  • The Rede unanimously approves their request; and
  • The existing Voting Members at the next annual Þing (following the applicant's written request to become a Voting Member) approve their application by a four-fifths majority.

    How to Join:

    If you would like to become a member of the hof, please print the membership application, fill it out, and send it to the address on the form along with a check for dues ($25 for individuals, $35 for households). Members who join before the end of the 2008 Þing will be eligible to request Voting Membership status at the 2009 Þing.

    Address Changes:
    Members, if your snail mail or e-mail address changes, please contact the ristakona to have your record updated in the database. Thanks!
